I love Korma or butter chicken. For something a bit spicier try a dopiaza
i love hot food but when i was pregnant, i couldn’t manage it. if they are asked politely, they may still give you your favorite foods, but they will alter it according to your taste, it worked for me. if this doesn’t do it for you, stick to the korma or tikka. i’m also very picky, i like to check for bones so i sometimes get the chicken tikka starter, a curry that i really like (without the meat), then i add the chicken my self. (ha haa) try to sit where you can see the kitchen, some might think your so annoying, they may wanna add a little sum-ting sum-ting
medium Shrimp Curry
Okay I am Guyanese so the main dish in our home is CURRY. You may want to try any Mild curry. We use lots of spicy pepper and if the curry is too spicy for you, your not going to enjoy the food instead your going to dump it. Try any curry chicken or curry duck. Not only do most restaurants use pepper but they use lots of spices that are also hot. Be very careful when choosing curry. Mild first. If it’s not spicy enough ask for extra pepper on the side.
I personally prefer green curry made with coconut milk and Thai basil. A good curry house should be able to vary the hotness for you. A good curry reference is “Death by Curry” at
Curry from different countries have different flavors. Vietnamese curry is red, green or yellow. The green curry is not that hot. Indian curry has all different kinds of subtle flavorings and such. My favorite that I do not think is that spicy even though I love spice would be any Japanese curry. It tends to be sweeter and has odd stuff added like apple, chocolate, bananas etc… there is even one with cheese added. The Japanese make a very sweet curry. Try a “House” brand curry that you should be able to find at most any supermarket. It comes in blocks like chocalate and is very easy to make then just pour over rice or potatoes. Or just try to find a Japenese resturant that serves curry.
