Pulikoddel recipe


Recipe ingredients

1/2 pound of gourd or squash
A pinch of turmeric powder
1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
2 to 3 red chillies
Fry in a little oil:
A pinch of asoefetida, hing
1 1/2 tablespoons coriander seeds
8 to 10 peppercorns
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin seeds
3/4 teaspoon fenugreek, methi
1 tablespoon rice, washed
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
2 to 3 tablespoons coconut
Salt to taste
2 teaspoons cooking oil for seasoning

How to make pulikoddel

Blend all the fried ingredients to a smooth paste and set aside.
Cook the gourd/squash with a pinch of salt and turmeric and when it is done, add the ground masala to it.
Bring it to a boil.
Season with the mustard and red chillies in oil.
Eat hot with rice.
