Is there a way to remove the smell of curry from a room?
We have tried everything from Febreeze to using an ozone machine, and the smell will not go away.

It’s in your fabrics then…and on your walls. Take down your curtains on a nice warm windy day and air them out. You might also try spraying them liberally with a can of Lysol. Sprinkle baking soda all over your carpets and leave it overnight, then vacuum it up in the morning. Wash down your walls with a cup of vinegar or lemon ammonia in a gallon of hot water. That should remove the smell that’s adhered to 90% of the major surfaces in the room. You might also spray the Lysol on any upholstery in the room and just throw open the windows as soon as it’s warm enough and let the whole thing air out.
My suggestion to you would be to boil some regular vinegar in a pot on the stove, it has a strong scent itself and may over ride the curry smell.Be prepared to have very clear sinuses!
1. Clean things such as carpet and upholstery with a carpet cleaner. Use a deodorizing carpet solution.
2. Wash all the walls and ceiling with a germicidal bleach and water solution.
3. Then use you ozone machine to finish the job.
oooh dear, well i am guessing your dining /kitchen are linked? i suggest you wash all the fabrics in the room/s. everything! curtains, the lot. buy a huge pack/s of bi-carb soda and cover the lounge etc that you cant wash, and ditto to the carpet/rugs! if possible leave it for a day… doors and windows open wide if your,e at home too! maybe overnight? or while you are at work..if your,e able to. i hope you do not have wallpaper..that will hold the smell.ugh!( you can add some drops of a favorite scent or REAL VANILLA ESSENCE not the fake cheap stuff. to the bicarb too, put it in a big plastic bag add oil and shake well, throw around by hand! waay cheaper than bought stuff!) and Melaleuca make a product that cleans and really deodorises called Sol-u-mel. i recommend it highly.
Put some water in a pot and add vinegar, once the pot begins to boil turn down the heat and let simmer . Just remember to keep topping up with water
Wash your walls, and add a fresh coat of paint.
You’ll want to take off the screens over your stove top and clean those as well. Most likely the curry, along with trapped oil in the filters are keeping the smell around.
Are you are talking about cleaning a kitchen after you cooked the curry? I put my favorite Mrs Meyers liquid cleaner (it’s like 409) onto a sponge mop and cleaned the ceiling, used that same cleanser on cleaning rags to wash the walls, used a swiffer on the floor, and wiped off every surface from the stove to the fridge and all the cabinets with Mrs Meyers Lemon Verbena cleaner. I will NEVER cook that in my kitchen again. It was hideous. I even changed my a/c filter just in case any of that funky smell was stuck in there. Open all the windows, turn on your a/c to blow out the stink, use fans to suck the smell OUT of the house.
hi there, when i bought my house.it smelled like curry as the previous owners were east indian.. so i asked them how to get the curry smell out and they told me to buy cinnamon sticks and boil them kinda like potpourri let them boil until they dissolve and that will get rid of the smell . .and it did.. so i hope it works for you too… good luck… you may have to do it a few times depending how bad the smell is….
I found the perfect product that I’ve used for years and know dozens of other people that use it. It is a product called FRIDGE IT carbon odor absorbers. It is a little purple cube with an incredible activated carbon filter inside that is really, really, great. The carbon literally absorbs and eliminates the odors and works for a long time. It works so much better than all those sprays and fragrances that just cover up smells and doesn’t get rid of them. Also, alot of sprays have warning statements about being eye irritant. and gels that say keep away from fabric, etc. and just don’t eliminate odors. Just put a few of these around problem areas. I use this product everywhere including car(smoke and pet smells), storage, closets, my fridge and also under sinks, near trash and have friends that use it on cat litter box and also diaper pails – it’s that good. I really recommend it. You can buy it in kitchen gadget sections in stores like walmart and linens and things. I also think camping world sells it. Definitely worth trying
