How do you get the smell of curry out of your house?
We just moved into a new apartment and a husband and wife from India use to live there. They obviously cooked a lot of food with curry in it because the entire place reeks of curry. It is making my husband sick. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the smell out?

Oh, that makes my stomach rumble, what times dinner??
set out a bowl of charcoal briquets, also bowls of vinegar they both absorb odors
Candles candles candles and MORE candles
You can try and use air freshener, or open all the windows. You can also change the wallpaper to rip the smell off the walls.
Automatic fresheners are horrible.
Boil orange peels on your stove. It really works!
Open the windows.
put a skunk in the house.
I would paint the walls and steam clean all the carpets. Using lots of air fresheners would help too!!
Good Luck!!
air freshener
it takes a long time to get the smell out the people that eat it alot smell to. use fabreeze (alot)
tons of frebreeze
You CAN’T get the smell of curry out. Short of bleaching your entire apartment and replacing the carpet I don’t what to tell you. That stuff is serious.
use alot of good smelling air fresheners and leave the windows open alot soon when you start to cook your own food it will go away so dont worrie!!
you gotta move! Haha.
Just joking, I would recommend steam cleaning the carpets and any other soft surfaces that could have absorbed the smell. If all their furniture is removed from the house, then it is likely just the carpet. If this doesnt work you could remove the carpet completely.
febreze and pine-sol
thats the power of pine-sol baby
you need 2 do a real proper cleaning and try 2 leave the windows open most of the time.. also there are some plug in perfumes which keep the houe smellin delicious!!
crack open a window
Is that what it is. I was blaming the dog.
Your best bet may be to talk to the landlord or property manager, to see if you can get another apartment.
That is a really tough smell to get rid of. Try using Febreeze on all the carpet and if there are drapes on them. You might want to steam clean the carpet with an odor neutalizer. There are a lot of odor neutralizers on the market now. I think the best thing is to pick one type and keep using it over an over. Hopefully that will help. Good luck!
use things with lemon, and open the windows
you could also get it professionally cleaned
Spray lysol everywhere air the the house out on a daily basis with a fan and an ioniser. The plug it in things help, but any smells that are there need to be wiped from the walls ceiling ect.
Buy some fresh smelling air fresheners to put around the place, also, light some insense around the house steady for a few days, if insense is not available, lighting plain candles will do the job perfectly! Also, if there is carpeting in the house I reccomend getting it proffesionally cleaned, this will be an IMMENSE help if there is carpet because its probably what is holding on to most of the smell, I assume you have new furnature.
You need to have the carpets cleaned, all of the window coverings cleaned, the walls washed/wiped down, all the cabinets need to be wiped down inside and out, clean the oven and the fridge. Paint the walls that will probably help. Clean the screens on the windows and the windows, too.
well the best thing to do is to get rid of any old carpets that might still be there and repaint the walls.. sweep the floors then mop them.. (if its hard wood) and the smell should die out… its probably cause the walls obsorbed the smell …
good luck
kesha..
arm and hammer baking soda…..sprinkle it around the carpet and vacuum…..then repeat…it will at least get most of the Oder out of the rugs…..the walls? there a different story.
That smell is the worst, open all your windows and repaint the house and clean down the floors/carpet. The smell will never go away unless you do this.
Move. It’s your only hope…
If you wash the walls and floors down with vinegar and water solution and use the same for any carpet cleaning you might do, it will lessen it. Any fabrics left in the aparment should be washed or replaced.
Good Luck!
If you have carpet, you will need to shampoo the carpet with a deodorizing agent. Next, you will want to wash down the walls with water and white vinegar…this will wash away the odor. Smells can seep into paint and wall paper on walls in your home so washing them thoroughly is very important. Also, to get the smell brew coffee for a few days. Coffee is very good at removing odors from homes. It really helps to set coffee grounds in pots on the floor around the home because it literally sucks up the smells even better than baking soda. But if you do not like coffee then open up boxes of baking soda and set them out all around your home so they can absorb the smells. Good luck, hope this helps!
Try XO Cleaners, my friend had the same problem. #1 She had the apt management shampoo the carpet, then she aired out the house. The smell kindda went away. She finished with this stuff and her house smells clean now.
I HATE CURRY YUCK! Good Luck
Try leaving a pan of baking soda out. My chemistry teacher did that whenever there are odors and it helped some.
Wash everything down and disinfect everything. steam clean drapes, any furniture, carpeting. Wash the walls…open all the windows and let in fresh air.
