How can I reduce heat in a curry I have made?
I follow a recipe in a curry book and the curry is just too strong to eat. I have added coconut milk to make it more ‘manageable’ but wonder if there is another way I can ‘rescue’ it without having to throw it away. Thanks

When my mom makes curry and its too spicy or salty she cuts up a tomato in lil chunks and lets it cook with the curry its tames the taste a bit…
you can add some water and let the curry boil so some of the heat evaporates.
Time will help I have heard. The longer it is cooked the less hot it will be, so you need to add more water from time to time.
add some water and cut up tomatoes and boil it together mixing well. Good Luck
add 2 or 3 pieces of raw potatoes (peeled of course) and let it cook, if possible, 15 minutes more into the curry
This is supposed to “eat” the fire !
you shouldnt put more coconut milk than asked because it can ruin the taste. did u use curry powder? becasue curry powder itself is pretty strong but if u just used a curry paste just add more water to make it less like gooey and more watery it can make the taste bland so just add salt. but since ur worried about the heat dont add the chili peppers if the recipe asked u to. =)
Cook rice and mix it up with the rice…have green tea to drink with it to put the fire out…also eat cucumbers along with the food…
Depending on the curry, there are different ways to reduce the heat
1. mash cooked potato and mix to the curry and cook. The curry will thicken and at the same time it will reduce the spicy.
2. Make extra gravy with onions and tomatoes with salt and mix
3. Or just add water and salt to make a thin curry
Eat with some yogurt or plain rice – that should help to kill the heat a bit. The coconut milk will just water it down – the dairy or rice will help to absorb a bit of the heat. I’ve been there before!!
