Can you put sunflower seeds in an Indian Curry?
Using Sunflower seeds in an Indian Curry just seems like a flavor mistake to me. If I’m not mistaken Sunflowers are traditionally used by American Indians, not in India; correct?

who the hell cares? thats like saying i cant use hamburger meat with something japanese because its not the same culture! does it really matter?
Sunflowers grow all over.
India, Africa, Australia…..
Indian curries often call for things like nuts, seeds, lentils, even pumpkin pips.
The truth is in the eye of the beholder. If you think is wrong, it is and don’t do it but don’t stop people from doing it, just don’t be a part of it.
umm i dunno.. do it then you’ll know how it goes
yes you can as a topping . should be seasme seeds who cares cooking is all about experimintation dare to be different in this case no harm no foul
Why not,? as long it’s not a poison, i feel it’s ok for me to try,
I think you shouldn’t put them in. Traditionally it’s not in any curry but more importantly i think the texture would become weird if you added them.
Great as a sprinkle on any kind of curry. Dry roast them in a pan first to give them a really yummy flavour. Don’t worry about tradition… it’s cooking, not History… go for it.
Being indian, i’ve not come across a curry recipe that uses Sunflower seeds. However, in some curries especially meat, we do use poppy seeds. We soak and grind it into a paste, it makes the curry tastier and makes you kinda ‘sleepy’.
Take note, not all indians use poppy seeds in their curries, i’m not sure about the indians in india. But i’m sure about the indians in Singapore and Malaysia.
yes……
