Can you make Jamaican Beef Patties without the curry?
I’m cooking dinner tonight and I really would like to make Jamaican Beef Patties. Well, my mom absolutely hates the spice curry. If I don’t add the curry will it affect the recipe?

Well it will taste different. Give it a try but first make your mom promise she’ll eat it if you suit her taste.
it will be fine without the curry…
here is a recipe that does not call for curry
JAMAICAN BEEF PATTIES

2 grated onions
1 stick celery
1/2 green pepper

1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1/2-1/4 c. water
1 pinch salt
TOPPING:
2 eggs
Brown ground beef, add rest of ingredients.
Place salt, flour, butter and shortening in bowl. Blend ingredients finely. Add water to dough. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough. Cut out dough with glass cup. Place small amount of ground beef on one side of dough. Cover with other side and seal. Beat two eggs brush on patties. Bake at 350 degrees.
Curry is a main flavor in Jamaican Beef Patties but try substituting for this
1/2 tsp turmeric
1 tsp ground cumin powder
1/2 tsp ground coriander powder
1/2 red chili powder, to taste.
This will insure your filling with have lots of flavor.
